Opening Event: Friday, August 13, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Works is proud to welcome Eliana Call-Saari to the Main Art Gallery. Her printmaking exhibit Desde Mi Ventana (From My Window) is comprised of a series of amazing prints based on images of Saari's family looking out the window and images of what they see. Using only black and white, she romanticizes these images; they become memories and visions. Meet and talk with this fascinating artist who believes the eyes are the windows to the world at the artist's public reception. The stories behind her work are touching, thought provoking and heart felt.
Sunday, May 23, 3:30 to 5 p.m.
Sunday, April 25, 3:30 to 5 p.m. "I'm attracted to the randomness of monotypes. You're never quite sure what's coming out of the other end of the press. Then I also want to control the results. So I jump back and forth. Sometimes I'm just fine with the resultant image. Sometimes I think it needs tweaking. Sometimes the monotype just ends up under the drawing. I really like the ghost prints. Recently, I've been doing monotypes on a large zinc plate that I heat up and print using a rolling pin on the studio floor. The monotypes then become part of the drawing process. I then enhance the often splotchy print with either the oil sticks I use on the original, using an eraser to erase and as a drawing tool to add more paint or I let it dry and go back on top of the print with charcoal, pastel, and eraser. The monotypes are influencing my painting and vice versa."
